Prague Christmas Market Day Trip: The Whole Day for £84
Gatwick to Prague and back on Tuesday 24 November was £56 return on Google Flights on 12 October, with about 10 hours in Prague. The Náměstí Míru Christmas market is open that day. Our estimate for the whole day is about £84.

£84. That's the flights, the bus, two meals and a beer, for a full day at a Christmas market in Prague. Here's where every pound goes.
How much is a Prague Christmas market day trip?
- Flights: £56 return. easyJet out of Gatwick at 07:10, landing 10:10. Wizz Air home at 22:45, landing back at Gatwick 23:55. Checked on Google Flights on 12 October
- Bus and metro from the airport and back: about £4. The trip in takes about 35 minutes
- Getting around town: about £5. A 24-hour ticket is CZK 150 on paper or CZK 140 in the app
- Lunch: about £7
- Dinner: about £12
- A beer or a coffee: about £2
- Total: about £84
The food and drink figures are our own estimates for Prague, not menu prices. You can do it for less if you eat from the stalls.
Which Christmas market is open on 24 November?
The Náměstí Míru market. Prague's official tourist site lists it from 20 November to 24 December, 10:00 to 20:00 every day. The Wenceslas Square market doesn't open until 28 November, so on this date Náměstí Míru is your one.
Náměstí Míru means Peace Square. It's a short metro ride from the old town, in front of the Church of St Ludmila, and it's a proper local market with a big Christmas tree in the middle.
When do the other Prague Christmas markets open?
The big one on Wenceslas Square runs from 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, 10:00 to 22:00 every day. If you'd rather see that, move your trip to the first week of December and check the flights again, because these prices won't hold.
What to eat and drink at a Czech Christmas market
- Svařák: Czech mulled wine, the drink of the season
- Trdelník: rolled dough cooked on a spit and covered in sugar
- Klobása: a grilled sausage with mustard and bread
- Hot mead, for something different
Graze your way round the stalls instead of sitting down for lunch. It's cheaper and it's the best bit of a Prague Christmas market.
Where does the rest of the money go?
It doesn't have to go anywhere. Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock show, the Prague Castle courtyards and the walk up Petřín Hill are all free. If you want to pay for one thing, the Old Town Hall tower is CZK 350 and Prague Castle is CZK 450.
Is it worth it?
For £84 and about 10 hours in one of the prettiest cities in Europe, I think so. The catch is the flight home. It lands at 23:55 and it's two separate tickets, so take hand luggage only and check both prices when you book.
