Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 1st August 2025 · Last Updated: 14th October 2026

This policy explains what personal data BudgetBro collects through budgetbro.app and the BudgetBro app, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what your rights are. BudgetBro is run by Nomu Studios Ltd (company number 16552052, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ), which is responsible for your data.

Information We Collect

  • •Account details when you create an account: your email address and the details needed to sign you in.
  • •Your name, email address, message and any file you attach when you use the contact form.
  • •If you join our affiliate scheme: your name, contact details, bank details (stored encrypted) and tax details so we can pay you, your link and click statistics, and the terms you signed.
  • •If you are a journalist or creator we invite for press access: your name, outlet and email address, which we may have found from public sources, and how you use your invite, including clicks with device type and country. We tell you this when we first contact you, in line with UK GDPR Article 14.
  • •Your email address and home airport if you join the Day Trips launch list or the weekly deals email.
  • •Order details if you buy a subscription, such as your email address, the plan and the date. Website payments are handled by Stripe. App purchases are handled by Apple or Google Play, through RevenueCat. We never see or store your card details.
  • •The text of searches you type into Day Trips, with the airports and dates searched.
  • •How you use the website (our own site statistics, on unless you opt out): pages viewed, how far you scroll, and which trips, pricing and booking links you click. This goes into our own event log with a random ID. We do not store your IP address or email address with it.
  • •How you found us, only if you accept analytics cookies: the page you first landed on, the website that sent you and any campaign tags in the link. If you later create an account or join one of our email lists, we record this against your email address so we can tell which pages bring people to BudgetBro.
  • •Your IP address, used briefly to block abuse such as automated requests. It is not kept in our logs.
  • •If you use the BudgetBro app: your trips, budgets and expenses, and for shared trips the names and amounts you and your group add. If you use “places near me”, your phone's location at that moment, to find places nearby. We do not keep your location history.
  • •Your device type and app version, so we can fix problems on your kind of phone.

We do not collect sensitive data or payment card details directly.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected data from this website and in-app to:

  • •Run your account and the features you use
  • •Take payments and keep records of purchases
  • •Send the emails you asked for, such as launch news or weekly deals. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • •Respond to contact form inquiries
  • •Understand which pages, trips and searches people use, so we can improve them (our own site statistics, which you can opt out of; Google Analytics only with your consent)
  • •Keep the website secure and working

We never sell your data.

Our Legal Basis

UK data protection law requires a reason for each use of your data. Ours are:

  • •Contract: running your account, your subscription and the features you asked for.
  • •Consent: analytics cookies and similar technologies, and marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • •Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, answering your messages, and learning from search text which trips people want.
  • •Legal obligation: keeping purchase records for tax and accounting.

Site Statistics

We run our own statistics on BudgetBro, on every visit, without asking first. We use them only to improve the website and Day Trips, never for advertising and never to work out affiliate commission. We do not share them with anyone else or sell them.

  • •What we collect: the pages you view, what you search for, which trips and links you click, how far you scroll, taps that do nothing, how fast pages load, your device and browser, your approximate location (the town or city your connection comes from, stored as that town's centre point, never your exact position), and the website or campaign link that sent you.
  • •We also record sign-ups, checkouts, payments, refunds, cancellations and errors on our servers, against your account if you have one, so we can run the service and see where people drop out. We keep these separate from your site statistics.
  • •A random ID in a first-party cookie (bb_vid) links your visits together, so we can see a journey from first visit to sign-up. It is not shared with anyone. Your visits are counted either way. We only tie them to your account if you choose Accept all (see “Only with your consent” below).
  • •How long: we keep site statistics for 13 months.
  • •How to opt out: use “Opt out of site stats” at the bottom of any page. We then stop collecting site statistics on that browser and set bb_notrack to remember your choice for 2 years.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We do not show a cookie banner. Our own site statistics are on, and nothing in the “only with your consent” list below runs until you choose Accept all under “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. You can change your choice there at any time. If you choose “Essential and stats only”, or withdraw consent later, we delete the consent-only cookies we can reach and stop them on that browser. To stop site statistics too, use “Opt out of site stats”.

Always on (needed for the site to work)

  • •bb_consent: remembers your cookie choice. Kept for 6 months, then we ask again.
  • •bb_notrack: set if you choose “Opt out of site stats”. Switches our site statistics off on that browser. Kept for 2 years.
  • •bb_vid: a random ID for our own site statistics, so we can link your visits together. First-party only, never shared. Kept for 13 months. Not set if you have opted out.
  • •Sign-in cookies (bb_user, bb_access_token, bb_id_token, bb_refresh_token, bb_role, bb_cognito_user, payload-token): keep you signed in to your account.
  • •bb_press: if you open a press invite link, remembers the invite for 7 days so your free week starts when you sign up.
  • •bb_surface: remembers that you came in through Day Trips, so the account button takes you to the right place. Kept for 90 days.
  • •bb_voter: a random ID set the first time you use Day Trips search, or vote on, comment on or report a tip. It counts free searches and makes sure each tip vote counts once. First-party only, never shared. Kept for 1 year.
  • •cf_clearance: set by Cloudflare to check you are not a bot. Kept for up to a year.
  • •NEXT_LOCALE: remembers your language.
  • •Browser storage: remembers display preferences such as theme and layout, and keeps a short-lived copy of the founding places count. This stays on your device.

Only with your consent

  • •Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _gat): counts visits and pages viewed. Set by Google.
  • •Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk, CLID, MUID): records how pages are used, including clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can find design problems. Set by Microsoft.
  • •bb_src: remembers how you first arrived (landing page, referring website, campaign tags) with a random visitor ID. Kept for 90 days.
  • •bb_promo: remembers the promoter code on the link you came from, so the person who recommended us is credited if you join within 7 days. Kept for 7 days. Only set if you accept cookies.
  • •bb_aid: a random ID kept in your browser's storage (not a cookie) that groups your visits in our own event log. Deleted if you reject or withdraw consent.
  • •Account link for site statistics: if you are signed in and choose Accept all, we link your page views to your account in our own database, so we can see which visitors are paying or free members. Never shared. Stops if you choose “Essential and stats only” or withdraw consent.

To switch off analytics on this browser permanently, you can also visit our analytics opt-out page.

Who We Share Data With

We use these providers to run BudgetBro. Each only gets the data it needs for its job:

  • •Stripe: card payments on the website.
  • •Apple: in-app purchases on iPhone.
  • •Google Play: in-app purchases on Android.
  • •RevenueCat: manages in-app purchases made through Apple and Google Play.
  • •Amazon Web Services: account sign-in, sign-in code emails (Amazon SES), and storing files you attach to the contact form or bug reports.
  • •MongoDB Atlas: our database.
  • •Vercel: hosts the website.
  • •Resend: sends our emails, together with Amazon SES above.
  • •Upstash: short-term records used to block abuse.
  • •Anthropic and xAI: the text of Day Trips searches, questions asked in “Ask about a city” and messages to the in-app chat are sent to these AI providers to produce answers. Please do not type personal details into them.
  • •Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity: analytics, only with your consent (see Cookies).
  • •Google Firebase: stores shared trips in the BudgetBro app.
  • •Google Maps Platform: finds places near you when you use “places near me” in the app. Your location is sent at that moment only.
  • •Cloudflare: protects and speeds up the website and stores uploaded images.
  • •Telegram: contact form messages, with your email address, are forwarded to our team's private Telegram chat so we can reply quickly.

Our database is in the UK. Some providers are based in, or process data in, the United States or elsewhere outside the UK, including Anthropic, xAI, Stripe, RevenueCat, Google, Cloudflare, Telegram and Amazon Web Services. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK-US data bridge or standard contract terms. They operate their own policies, which apply in addition to ours.

How Long We Keep It

  • •Account data: until you delete your account.
  • •Email lists: until you unsubscribe.
  • •Contact form messages and attachments: up to 2 years after we last hear from you, then deleted.
  • •Ask about a city questions and messages to us: while you have an account, or 2 years if you do not.
  • •Purchase records: as long as the law requires for tax and accounting.
  • •Site statistics and search logs: 13 months, then deleted.
  • •Affiliate and press records: while we work with you, then for 6 years because of tax and accounting rules, then deleted.
  • •Cookies: as listed above.

Data Storage & Security

Our main database is hosted in the UK. We use encryption in transit on every page, store affiliate bank details encrypted, and limit access to our own small team. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts your data at risk we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

Your Rights

You can delete your account at any time: on the website in your Day Trips account, or in the app under Settings, then Delete or Reset My Account. Deleting removes your saved trips and places, comments, tips and preferences, and closes your account. We keep purchase records for as long as the law requires for tax, and some data stays in our site statistics and logs until it reaches the end of its keep period above. Closing your sign-in can take up to 30 days. ‘Reset Account’ in the app clears your saved preferences and activity but keeps your account. If you bought a subscription, Stripe, Apple or Google also keep their own records of the payment.

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • •Give you a copy of the data we hold about you
  • •Correct data that is wrong
  • •Delete your data
  • •Limit or stop how we use it
  • •Send your data to you or another service in a usable format

You can withdraw consent at any time: use “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page for analytics, or unsubscribe from our emails. To use any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

BudgetBro is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account or buy a membership. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us their details, email support@budgetbro.app and we will delete them.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page, with a new date at the top.
