A day trip to Wrocław from Stansted on Sunday 15 November is £46.00 return and £71.50 for the whole day. Once the Christmas market opens on 20 November, Sunday 29 November is £83.50 and Friday 11 December £84.50.
Wrocław is the Polish city most people haven't heard of and everyone who goes raves about. Colourful old square, islands in the river, and hundreds of little bronze dwarfs hidden all over town.
It also happens to be one of the cheapest days out in Europe once you land. Here's how to do it in a day from the UK. Prices are return, per person, checked on 28 October 2026.
The cheapest day, before the market
Stansted, Sunday 15 November. Ryanair out at 08:55, home at 22:40, landing 23:55. £46.00 for the flight and £71.50 for the whole day, with about 7.6 hours in town.

Why the day is so cheap
The trip page puts the ground cost at £25.50. That's £2.00 for the bus from the airport and back, £5.00 for trams, £8.00 for lunch and £10.50 for dinner. It's one of the lowest day costs we've got anywhere.
With the Christmas market
The market runs from 20 November to 7 January, right across the main square. Two days from Stansted stood out.
- Sunday 29 November £58.00 flight, £83.50 for the day. Same 08:55 out and 22:40 home.
- Friday 11 December £59.00 flight, £84.50 for the day. Out earlier at 06:20 and home at 19:05, landing 20:20.

How to spend the day
Start at the Rynek, the market square. It's one of the biggest market squares in Europe and the town hall in the middle is the photo everyone takes.
Then go dwarf hunting. There are bronze dwarfs all over the old town, outside shops, on railings, at the bottom of lamp posts. Kids love it, adults secretly love it more.
Walk out to Ostrów Tumski in the afternoon. It's the old island quarter with the cathedral, over a couple of bridges from the centre, and it's beautiful as the lamps come on.
Back to the square for dinner, and if it's market season, a hot drink at the stalls before the bus to the airport.

Is Wrocław or Kraków better for a day? Both are great. Wrocław is smaller and easier to see in one go.
