A day trip to Cork from Manchester, Stansted or Edinburgh is £28.00 return on several November dates. The whole day comes to £83.85 with the bus, lunch and dinner, and Manchester on Tuesday 3 November gives you about 9.5 hours in the city.
£28.00 to fly to Cork and back in a day. That's less than a lot of train tickets to the next city over.
But I'll be straight with you, Cork isn't cheap once you land. So this is the full picture, the flights and the day, so nothing catches you out. Every price is return, per person, checked on 28 October 2026.
The cheap flights
Three airports hit £28.00, and on more than one date.
Manchester, Tuesday 3 November. Ryanair out at 06:55, home at 20:00, landing 21:15. About 9.5 hours in the city, the most of any airport. Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 November were also £28.00. Cork from Manchester on 3 November
Stansted, Wednesday 4 November. Ryanair out at 09:25, home at 21:40, landing 23:05. A later start, so about 8.5 hours there, but no 4am alarm. Wednesday 11 and 18 November were £28.00 too. Cork from Stansted on 4 November
Edinburgh, Saturday 14 November. Ryanair out at 05:55, home at 18:35, landing 19:55. A Saturday at this price is rare. Saturday 28 November and Sunday 6 December were £29.00. Cork from Edinburgh on 14 November
Bristol and Heathrow fly Aer Lingus and cost a lot more. Bristol on Monday 9 November is £92.00, Heathrow on Saturday 19 December £217.00.
Where the money goes on the day
Here's the bit people miss. The ground costs in Cork come to £55.85 a person on our trip page, nearly double the flight.
- £14.00 the bus from the airport and back. It's about 25 minutes and €8.00 each way.
- £4.00 getting about town. A Leap card caps your fares at €5.10 for the day.
- £17.60 lunch.
- £20.25 dinner.
So the real number is £83.85 for the whole day. Still a cracking day out for that, just go in knowing it.
What to do with nine hours
Go to the English Market first. It's the covered food market in the middle of town and it's the best breakfast you'll have all year. Then walk it off along the River Lee.
Cork City Gaol is €12.00 and it's a proper bit of history, a bit grim, very good. St Fin Barre's Cathedral is €8.00 and right in town. Blarney Castle is €24.00, but it's out of the city, so it eats half your day. Pick the castle or the town, not both.
Light goes early. On 3 November the sun sets in Cork at 17:03, so do the outdoor stuff first and save the pubs and dinner for the dark.
