Short flight, long day. The less time you spend in the air, the more you get on the ground, which is the whole point of a day trip.

What's the shortest flight abroad from the UK?
Of the day trips we track, Dublin and Eindhoven are the shortest at about an hour and five minutes in the air. Dublin from Bristol also gives you over nine hours in the city for £28.
Which one is the best day out?
Luxembourg is the sleeper. £38 return, nearly nine hours there, and public transport across the whole country is free, so getting from the airport into town costs nothing. Walk the Chemin de la Corniche and drop down into the Grund. See the Luxembourg day.

Does a short flight always mean more time there?
Not always. Paris is only 1h20 away, but the cheap flights back leave in the early evening, so you get about 6.6 hours. Nantes takes ten minutes longer and gives you over nine. It's the flight times that matter, not just the distance. Search your airport on Day Trips to see the hours for every date.
