A Valentine's Day Trip for Two in 2027, and What 14 February Really Costs
Founders pay £19.00 a year, for as long as you stay. See the founding offer
Return flights for a day trip on Sunday 14 February 2027 typically cost £155.50 each, against £130.00 on the other February Sundays, based on fares we checked on 27 October. The cheapest we found is Cork from Edinburgh at £55.00 each, £110.00 for two.

Valentine's Day 2027 is a Sunday. Which means you can fly out in the morning, watch the sun go down somewhere nice, and be home in your own bed that night. No hotel, no Monday off.
Before you pick somewhere though, it's worth knowing what the date itself does to the price.
What 14 February does to the fare
On 27 October we checked every February Sunday on our boards. On Sunday 14 February the typical day trip was £155.50 each, the middle of 114 fares. On the other February Sundays, the 7th, 21st and 28th, it was £130.00, across 318 fares.
Saturday 13 February was dearer still at £176.00 across 88 fares. Part of that is half term, which starts on Monday 15 February for a lot of schools in England, so check yours.
So if the actual date doesn't matter to you, go a week either side and spend the difference on dinner. If it does, here's what 14 February looks like.
The cheapest Valentine's day trip from each airport
Return, each, then for two. All Sunday 14 February 2027.
- Edinburgh Cork, £55.00 each, £110.00 for two. Out 05:55, home flight 21:40, about 14.4 hours there.
- Manchester Shannon, £63.00 each, £126.00 for two. Out 06:15, home flight 20:15, about 12.8 hours.
- Stansted Cologne, £76.00 each, £152.00 for two. Out 07:05, home flight 20:10, about 10.8 hours.
- Leeds Bradford Dublin, £85.00 each, £170.00 for two. Out 07:30, home flight 22:00, about 13.5 hours.
- Bristol Málaga, £89.00 each, £178.00 for two. Out 06:20, home flight 21:50, about 11.8 hours.
- Gatwick Valencia, £95.00 each, £190.00 for two. Out 06:00, home flight 21:25, about 12.1 hours.
- Heathrow Luxembourg, £104.00 each, £208.00 for two. Out 06:05, home flight 18:50, about 10.4 hours.
Our pick, Málaga from Bristol

If it were us, it'd be Málaga. easyJet out of Bristol at 06:20, nearly 12 hours there, and the latest sunset on this list. On 14 February the sun goes down in Málaga at 18:56, so you can watch it from the beach and still make the 21:50 flight home, landing at 23:35.
The train from the airport is 12 minutes and €1.80. The Alcazaba is €7.00 each and the view from the top is the one you want. That's £178.00 for two in flights.

How the Málaga day goes
- 06:20 easyJet out of Bristol. Sleep on the plane.
- Late morning train into town, coffee, a slow walk round the old town.
- Afternoon up the Alcazaba, then a long lunch, no rush.
- 18:56 sunset from the beach at Malagueta.
- 21:50 flight home, landing back in Bristol at 23:35.
One tip. If sitting together matters, sort your seats when you book rather than at the airport. It's a long day to spend six rows apart.
Sunset on 14 February
This bit matters more than people think. In February the UK and Ireland lose the light early, so if a sunset together is the point, head south.
- Málaga 18:56
- Valencia 18:36
- Luxembourg 17:50
- Cork 17:45
- Cologne 17:43
- Dublin 17:32
Times are local and worked out for that exact date. Valencia from Gatwick gives you both, an 18:36 sunset and a 21:25 flight home. See Valencia from Gatwick
The most time together for the money
Cork from Edinburgh. £55.00 each for about 14.4 hours there, one of the longest days and the cheapest fare we found for the 14th. It's an early one at 05:55, but you land back at 23:00 having had the whole day.

Luxembourg from Heathrow is the opposite. British Airways at 06:05, home by 19:05, so you're back for a late dinner at home if that's more your thing. See Luxembourg from Heathrow
Cologne, the easy one from London
Ryanair out of Stansted at 07:05, home at 20:10, landing 20:30. £76.00 each, £152.00 for two, about 10.8 hours there. The sun sets at 17:43, so you get the cathedral lit up and dinner before heading back, and you're home well before midnight.

Or go a week either side
If the date isn't the point, these were the cheapest days we found on the other February Sundays.
- Sunday 7 February Shannon from Stansted, £46.00 each. Wrocław from Stansted, £48.00.
- Sunday 21 February Dublin from Leeds Bradford, £62.00 each, against £85.00 on the 14th. Cork from Manchester, £54.00.
- Sunday 28 February Milan Bergamo from Stansted, £55.00 each. Alicante from Luton, £63.00.
Same idea, same day out, just not on the day everyone else picked.
February has a few other reasons to go too. There's Venice Carnival, the Six Nations in Dublin and Rome, and Rosenmontag in Cologne.
Before you book
These are Sunday flights, so check the last train or bus home from the airport. A 23:35 landing is fine in a car, less fine if you're relying on public transport.
Fares will move between now and February. The fares for the 14th were last checked on 28 October, and the trip pages always show today's.
