Stansted to Faro Flight Time, and the Catch
Stansted to Faro takes about 2 hours 45 minutes but leaves you only 3.8 hours in the city, against 7.4 hours on the Gatwick route.

Stansted to Faro takes about two and three quarter hours, and here is the part nobody else will tell you: on the Stansted flights you only get 3.8 hours on the ground. Our own trip page flags it as under five hours once passport control is counted at both ends. It still works, it is just a short day, and from Gatwick you would get nearly double. Everything here is costed like our other extreme day trips.
Sunday 8 November, out of Stansted and back by 22:20, 3.8 hours in Faro at £55.25 for the whole day. Checked 3 November. See the day
How long is the flight from Stansted to Faro?
Around two hours forty five minutes, direct with Ryanair. The flight is not the problem. The timings either side of it are.

How long do you actually get in Faro from Stansted?
Three hours and forty eight minutes. You land at 12:25, you are in the city at 13:10 after fifteen minutes of passport control and the half hour run in, and you are leaving again at 16:55 to make a 19:25 flight. That is lunch and a wander, not a day out.
Is Gatwick better than Stansted for Faro?
Considerably. The Gatwick route gives 7.4 hours in the city on the equivalent day, which is nearly twice as long for the same sort of money. If you can get to Gatwick, go from Gatwick, and we have costed that properly in the Gatwick to Faro flight time piece.

So is the Stansted day worth doing at all?
If you live next to Stansted and you want winter sun for under sixty quid, yes, with your eyes open. The airport is only 7km out, the old town is small and you can genuinely see the Arco da Vila, the gardens by the marina and have a proper lunch in under four hours. What you cannot do is the beach, the Ria Formosa boat and a long dinner as well.

What are the Stansted fares like later in the year?
Thin. After early November the cheapest Stansted dates on the board jump to £212 on 31 March and £227 on 28 March, with the rest over £260. This is a route that works on the odd cheap Sunday rather than all year. Every date is on the trip page, and the rest from here are on day trips from London Stansted. Founders pay £19 a year.
