What is the Iceland Eclipse festival?
It's a 5 day event on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland, running 11-15 August 2026, built around live music, talks and ceremony as much as the eclipse itself. The lineup includes artists CloZee, Above & Beyond and Imogen Heap, alongside visual artist Android Jones, astronaut Dr Sian Proctor and MAPS founder Dr Rick Doblin, with wellness programming and an airport shuttle from Keflavik included as part of the ticket options.
When is the total solar eclipse?
The eclipse itself falls on 12 August 2026, with totality tracking across Iceland's west coast in the early evening, after 5pm local time. The Reykjanes peninsula towns of Gardur and Sandgerdi see some of the longest easily reached totality at just over 1 minute 40 seconds, while Latrabjarg in the Westfjords has the longest duration on the Icelandic mainland at 2 minutes 13 seconds.
