When is the total solar eclipse?

The eclipse itself falls on 12 August 2026, with totality tracking across Iceland's west coast in the early evening, after 5pm local time. The Reykjanes peninsula towns of Gardur and Sandgerdi see some of the longest easily reached totality at just over 1 minute 40 seconds, while Latrabjarg in the Westfjords has the longest duration on the Icelandic mainland at 2 minutes 13 seconds.
