The day
Ryanair out of Stansted at 06:20, landing 09:20. Flight home is 19:05, so 9.8 hours on the ground. Bus 106 runs from the airport to the main station on a standard 4.60 zł ticket and takes about 30 minutes. That's about a quid. Not a typo.
The market opens that morning at 10:00 and runs 10:00 to 21:00 every day until 7 January, so it's open the whole time you're there. It's free to get in. It fills the Rynek, the main market square, and spills out onto Plac Solny, Świdnicka and Oławska.

Prague or Wrocław?
Prague is the postcard, no argument. But on 20 November Prague's Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square markets aren't open yet, they start on the 28th. Wrocław's opens the day you land. What's free
The Rynek itself, Ostrów Tumski (the old cathedral island), Salt Square and Park Szczytnicki all cost nothing. If you want one paid thing, the Old Town Hall is 20 zł and the Panorama Racławicka is 50 zł.
Food's where Wrocław really wins. Lunch is about £10 and dinner about £14 in our cost data. Enjoy that, it doesn't happen often.
