Gatwick to Dubrovnik Flight Time, and a Day Trip Before the Season Ends
Gatwick to Dubrovnik takes about 2 hours 45 minutes out and 2 hours 55 back, and Croatia is an hour ahead. easyJet on Tuesday 20 October 2026 was £62 return on Google Flights, checked on 9 October, with about 6.6 hours in Dubrovnik.

How long is the flight from Gatwick to Dubrovnik?
About 2 hours 45 minutes on the way out and 2 hours 55 on the way back. Croatia is an hour ahead of the UK, so the clock says more. The easyJet flight we checked leaves Gatwick at 07:35 and lands at 11:20 local time.
Can you do Dubrovnik as a day trip?
Yes, for a few more weeks. easyJet on Tuesday 20 October 2026 goes out at 07:35 and comes back at 21:05, landing at Gatwick at 23:00. It was £62 return on Google Flights, checked on 9 October 2026.
Dubrovnik from Gatwick on Tue 20 Oct: times and today's price
Is there a direct flight from London Gatwick to Dubrovnik?
Yes. easyJet flies Gatwick to Dubrovnik direct, and that's the flight that makes a day trip work. Other options we saw on Google Flights had one or two stops and took most of the day, so they're no good for a day trip.
Which days are cheapest in late October?
These are BudgetBro's checked same-day returns from Gatwick, all easyJet, out in the morning and home the same night. Prices come from Google Flights and move daily.
- Monday 19 October: £116
- Tuesday 20 October: £62, the cheapest
- Wednesday 21 October: £71, with the longest day at about 7.8 hours in the city
- Thursday 22 October: £104
- Friday 23 October: £140
- Saturday 24 October: £178, the last one we found
Midweek is cheapest. The Tuesday and Wednesday are both under £75.
How long do you get in Dubrovnik?
About 6.6 hours. After passport control and the bus you're in the old town at about 12:20, and you need to leave at about 18:55. Sunset is 17:59, so you get the walls in daylight and the old town lit up for your last hour.
How would we spend the day in Dubrovnik?
- 11:20: land, through passport control and onto the airport bus
- About 12:20: in through Pile Gate and straight onto the Stradun, the main street
- 12:30: up onto the city walls before the afternoon crowds. We'd give them a couple of hours, and they're the best thing in Dubrovnik
- 14:30: late lunch by the Old Port
- 15:30: inside the cathedral and St Blaise's church, both free, then the Rector's Palace for about £13 if you like a museum
- 16:30: the cable car up Mount Srđ for sunset at 17:59, about £26. Or hike the zig-zag path up for free if you've got the legs
- 18:30: back down for a last drink, then the bus to the airport at about 18:55
Got a bit more time or a calmer day in mind? Lokrum, the island just off the old town, is about £26 with the boat. We'd save it for a longer visit.
When do the day trips stop?
Late October. In our checked fares, the last same-day return from Gatwick is on 24 October. After that we haven't found one that works, so if Dubrovnik is on your list, this is the window.
What's the weather like in Dubrovnik in October?
Still warm. Croatia's weather service gives an average October high of 21.1C and low of 14.9C (1971 to 2000), with rain on about 11 days. The sea averages about 21C in October, so a swim is possible on a sunny day.
What does the day cost?
About £121 a person. That's the £62 flight plus about £59 on the ground: £18 for the Platanus airport bus both ways, £5 for local transport, £13 for lunch and £23 for dinner.
What's worth paying for?
The city walls are the big one at about £34 (€40). Walk them first, before it gets busy. The cable car up Mount Srđ is about £26 (€30) for the view down over the old town. If you only pay for one, make it the walls. The old town streets, the harbour and the Stradun are all free.
What about Split instead?
Split is the other Croatian day trip from Gatwick. easyJet on Wednesday 21 October was £71 return in our checked fares, out at 05:55 and back at 20:55, with about 7.7 hours in the city. Split is bigger and less of a museum piece. Dubrovnik has the walls.
How do you get from Dubrovnik airport to the old town?
By the Platanus airport bus. We allow £18 for the return trip. After passport control you should be in the old town about an hour after landing. Croatia is in the Schengen area, so allow time at the border on the way in.
Is it worth it for six and a half hours?
If you've never been, yes. The old town is small, so six and a half hours is enough for the walls, lunch by the harbour and a wander. It's a long day, with a 23:00 landing, but £62 for Dubrovnik in October is hard to beat.
