What Went Wrong with Air Japan?

No Smooth Landing for Air Japan

You should all know me by now, I'm crazy about my puns but it does look like Air Japans flight plan had officially been cancelled mid-air. The story actually stretches back a fair way, since 1990 but the ANA owned airline has officially announced it'll stop flying under the Air Japan brand by March 2026. Wrapping up it's last flights on routes like BKK-NRT around the 29th March.

If You're booked on a flight prior to this date, you're totally fine as there's no changes for now but if you've planned a trip later in the year, I'd be finding the emergency exit. (bad pun but good at the same time)

What Went Wrong

Identity crisis, supply chain delays, timing, competition... With Peach already covering the low cost side and ANA dominating the premium seats, Air Japan was stuck somewhere in the middle, like the awkward kid in a group photo.

In the end, ANA said what we were all thinking, three brands were one too many. they're folding Air Japan back into the main ANA/Peach lineup to simplify things and save cash. Officially it's being names "brand consolidation" Unofficially? The awkward kid in the group photo got removed by AI remover.

I've never flew air Japan before, and in honesty, I hadn't heard of it until recently. I guess that says something when it's nearly older than I am.
