Festival extended to November 8 after weather delays grounded several balloon launches.
The Taunggyi Tazaungdaing (not a chance I can pronounce that) festival in Shan State kicked off on October 29th and usually runs through to November 5th drawing in hot air balloon lovers from around the globe.
Many of the large night balloons and Sein-Na-Pan balloons couldn't be to schedule due to bad weather, those flights are still on hold.
To make up for the deflated crowd (who liked my pun? DM me 0n Instagram) and to give the balloon makers the recognition they deserve, the festival is being extended. The balloon competition will now run until November 7th and the closing ceremony will take place on the evening of November 8th. Expect awards, honorary balloon launches and a full fireworks show to wrap it all up.
There's more too, popular singers from Yangon and a well known comedy music duo will perform on November 5th and 6th, keeping the crowds hyped whilst balloons light up the skies on the final days.
