What Really Happens When You Risk It All for Your Dreams

In April 2022, I made the biggest decision of my life… I sold everything I owned: my car, my tools, and the identity I’d built for over a decade and I left England with nothing but faith in the idea that I could create my dream life while living it.

For more than ten years, I worked as a car mechanic fixing other people’s problems while quietly ignoring my own. Deep down, I knew I was meant for something more. But like many, I was waiting for the “right time.” Then one day, I realised that time wasn’t coming… So I quit my job and went all in on my dreams of becoming a life coach, author, and keynote speaker.

The Lie We've Been Sold

We live in a world that conditions us to believe we have to choose between two paths:
1.Work hard in a job we don’t love, saving up for a “someday” that never comes.
2.Travel the world on a shoestring budget, just scraping by.

But that’s a lie! With the right mindset, a bit of financial strategy, and the courage to back yourself, you can do both. You can build your dream life while living it. “I didn’t sell everything to escape my life - I sold everything to create one.”

Living the Dream - While Building it

Today, I’m living my dream life and creating an even better one every single day. To me, it makes perfect sense to travel the world while building a purpose-driven business. Why wait until retirement to see the world, when you can grow personally, professionally, and spiritually right now?

I’ve spent the last few years exploring South America and Asia, and I can honestly say this lifestyle is far more sustainable (financially and emotionally) than the 9-to-5 grind I left behind. You can see daily content posted on my instagram account.

The Reality of Affordability

Back home in England, rent alone costs around £1,000 a month. Since leaving, I’ve lived comfortably (often in pretty nice hotels) for anywhere between £500 and £1,000 per month. I’m not living small, either. I eat out two to three times a day, with meals averaging £1–£5 each. Quality accommodation can be found for £5–£15 per night if you know where to look.

People say "it’s not possible." I’m living proof that it is. Because I don’t drink alcohol and don’t chase unnecessary luxuries, I can enjoy a lifestyle that feels richer, freer, and more aligned without overspending.

A New Definition of Freedom

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the world, here’s my advice:
•If your job can be done remotely — take it on the road.
•If it can’t — start looking for one that can.
•And if you need a break — set a budget, make a plan, and just go.

Life is too short to spend it waiting for the “perfect” time. “Don’t let the only place you ever travel to be the commute between home and work.”

Final Reflection

Selling everything and leaving England wasn’t just a leap of faith. It was a declaration of trust in myself, in the universe, and in the belief that life is meant to be lived, not merely endured. If there’s one thing I’ve learned through travel, it’s this: You don’t need to choose between your dreams and your reality. You can live both - right now!

I published my first book called 'Sort Your S-H-I-T OUT!' in December 2023, you can find it on Amazon.
