Three days of learning, meeting people and getting my story out there.
Thursday 13th of November I was cruising around hostels in Bangkok, showing the app to other travellers and grabbing as much feedback as I could before we launch in January. All was calm until Nathan, our marketer, basically blew up my phone. I don’t remember the exact words but it was something like, “Nomad Fest Bangkok. No ifs, buts or maybes, we have to go.” So that’s exactly what we’re doing.
Me and Samar started connecting with people going to the event, plus a few of the speakers, hoping a couple of faces might recognise us when we walk around over the next few days. Nathan’s been prepping me on how to answer questions too. I feel for him. I’m difficult enough on a normal day and the last few have been stressful, but he still pulled through. Am I ready? Not sure. We’ll see.
Since this is our first proper networking event as a team, I’ve got no idea what to expect. This isn’t my world. I come from construction management where networking isn’t exactly a big deal. But I’m excited. The last nine months building BudgetBro have been full of little milestones and learning curves, and diving into new sectors has actually been fun.
The next few days are packed with the main event during the day and extra events in the evenings. It’s going to be busy, but I’ll share parts of the itinerary with you now.
Wednesday 19th November
Thursday 20th November
Friday 21st November
Saturday 22nd November
Believe it or not, there's actually even more going on but I didn't want to drown the blog in events, this is more about why we are heading to Nomad Fest BKK.
We’re BudgetBro, a travel app built to make all travellers trips way easier through smart AI budgeting, Bro’s Picks, Bro’s Tips and blogs written and posted by real app users. We’ve built an ecosystem inside one app so whatever you need on the road is in one place. No more bouncing between ten different apps just to plan your day.
How do we know what travellers actually need? Simple. Me and my wife have been full-time travelling since 2019. We’ve lived through all the good, bad and chaotic moments on the road, and BudgetBro exists because of everything we learned along the way.
We’ve been building BudgetBro since March 2025 and we’re now deep in the final phase of development. Me and my wife have already put over $30,000 into this project, but we need a bit more funding to make sure we hit our full potential. That’s why we’re crowdfunding.
If you can check out our socials, watch the videos and get involved, it genuinely helps. Even if you can’t donate, engaging with the content is just as valuable.
See you all at Nomad Fest this week 💚
