Gdańsk Christmas Market 2026: Dates, Where It Is and a £57 Day Trip
Gdańsk Christmas market 2026 runs from 20 November to 23 December on Targ Węglowy. The 2026 opening hours aren't out yet. A Tuesday day trip from Stansted gives you about 6 hours in the city, with flights from £57 when we checked on 5 October.

Why would anyone go to a Christmas market on a Tuesday? Two reasons. The flights were £57 return when we checked, and one of the best museums in Poland lets you in for nothing.
Here's what you're probably searching for about the Gdańsk Christmas market 2026, answered straight, with the day trip that makes it work.
When is the Gdańsk Christmas market 2026?
Friday 20 November to Wednesday 23 December 2026. That's from the market's own site. It shuts before Christmas, so don't leave it for the week after.
Opening hours for 2026 haven't been published yet. You'll see times on other sites, but the ones we've found are from 2024. We'll add the real ones when the market puts them out.
Where is it?
Targ Węglowy, the Coal Market, on the edge of the old town, the Main Town. It sits right by the start of the Royal Route, the old walk through the centre, so a few minutes down Long Street gets you to Neptune's Fountain on Long Market.

Getting in is free. You only pay for the food, the mulled wine and whatever gifts you end up carrying home.
Can you do Gdańsk as a day trip from the UK?
Yes, and better than most. Ryanair from Stansted on Tuesday 1 December leaves at 07:55 and lands at 11:00. The flight home is at 20:05. Our trip page gives you about 6.1 hours in the city, and you leave town at 18:00.
We looked it up on Google Flights on 5 October. £57 return for the 1st, and £60 for Tuesday 24 November on the same times. Prices move, so look again before you book.

Why a Tuesday?
The Museum of the Second World War. The main exhibition is free on Tuesdays, and it's the kind of place people lose a whole afternoon in. You've got about six hours, so give it two and spend the rest at the stalls.

The sun's down at 15:28 that day. So you get the museum in the light and the market lit up after. That's the right way round.
Is Gdańsk cheap?
For a Christmas market, yes. Our cost data has the train into town and back at £6, about £5 for getting around, lunch £9 and dinner £18. That's £38 on the ground, against £47 for a day in Berlin. With the £57 flight you're at about £95 for the day. Add £3 if you want a coffee or a beer.

If you want one paid thing, the Amber Museum is about £7 (37 zł). Gdańsk is amber country, and an hour in there is a better way to learn what the real stuff looks like than guessing at a stall.
Polish money is the złoty, not the euro.
Gdańsk or Wrocław?
People ask this one a lot. Wrocław's market runs 20 November to 7 January, so it's the one if you want to go after Christmas. Gdańsk is done on the 23rd. Before Christmas, either works as a day. We did Wrocław's opening day here.
How cold will it be?
Our trip page has a high of 2°C and a low of minus 2 on 1 December. Hat, gloves, proper shoes. The wind off the Baltic doesn't care about your outfit.
What we'd leave for next time
Westerplatte, where the Second World War began in 1939. It's free and it's moving, but it's out at the mouth of the harbour and you'd lose a big chunk of your six hours getting there and back. Same with Brzeźno beach and its pier. Lovely in summer. On 1 December? Maybe not.

Set on opening day instead? Here's Friday 20 November as a day trip.
Rather pick your own Tuesday? Every Gdańsk date, costed. Founders see six months of dates for £19 a year.
